The HCCC seeks it’s next Executive Director

October 19, 2024

The Harney County Chamber of Commerce seeks its next Executive Director, effective immediately. The ideal candidate has strong leadership, management, communication, and professional skills. This person should create strong relationships with business owners, community leaders, and government officials, to further the story of Harney County. The Executive Director brings the Board of Directors vision for the organization to fruition through marketing, partnerships, and community action. For a full job description, or to submit a cover letter and resume, please email director@harneycounty.com

During this job search, the HCCC Board of Directors has named Jessica Hedges as the Interim Executive Director. She resigned her position as Vice President of the Board to step into this role. Jessica owns multiple businesses, has lived in Harney County for almost 10 years, and makes the daily commute from a ranch south of Princeton. Her experience in marketing, public speaking and small business coaching will be a credit to the Chamber as they navigate this transition.

As Interim, Jessica is responsible for keeping the doors open and welcoming visitors, as well as continued progress on ongoing initiatives and events. Some of these include the Chamber Radio Auction, the Christmas Jamboree Shopping Experience, Chamber Awards, as well as implementing a robust tourism plan designed to bring income to Harney County businesses.

In Harney County, our Chamber also serves as the visitor center. They are often the first face a new visitor meets, and these visitors rely on the Chamber to suggest activities, restaurants, driving directions, and more. Weary travelers rave about the clean restrooms, study area maps, gather brochures, and appreciate art while stretching their legs. Because of this, Jessica has reopened the gallery so others can see the amazing art created by our unique landscapes and rich history. Exhibits are still arriving for this first show, set to end before 2025. It is focused on our western heritage, and she hopes future exhibits focus on our indigenous peoples, wildlife, migratory birds, landscapes, and all of the other things that have molded Harney County into what it is today.

None of these events or initiatives would be possible without the leadership of the HCCC Board of Directors! Within this diverse group, our Board represents finance, education, small business, technology, physical and mental health, as well as many other industries that propel our county forward. Our community would not be what it is without the time and talents they have dedicated. The Chamber is searching for their next member of the Board. If you would like to influence their work now, and in the future, please reach out to director@harneycounty.com.
