The Harney County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is excited to announce the revitalization of Adventure Harney, the outdoor recreation arm of HCCC, and the Skull Bike Race! Board Treasurer, Natasha Gunn, will lead the committee as the organization enhances tourism experiences and Harney County economy through the enjoyment of our natural resources. Executive Director, Jess Hedges, has already secured the necessary Bureau of Land Management use permit and applied for a grant to cultivate content intended to grow the Adventure Harney brand. One notable change to the 2025 race is the exclusion of the 120 mile circle due to the extensive fire damage experienced in the Malheur Forest this summer. They are excited to offer the 30 and 60 mile loops and bring back one of the economy boosts businesses missed during the off year. If you are interested in learning more about Adventure Harney, the Skull Bike Race, or just outdoor recreation opportunities in Harney County, please don’t hesitate to reach out to adventure@harneycounty.com or call Jess at the Chamber, 541-573-2636.
The HCCC would like to recognize Michelle Severe, local artist, for serving as our first volunteer in their new program! Michelle’s first task is to reorganize the brochures and maps in our visitor area to prioritize the most important things- our Harney County businesses, recreation opportunities, and special events! Severe was surprised to learn what all the Chamber had to offer and said that she learned a bunch. She especially liked the Oregon road maps, free to anyone who stops in. While Severe volunteers her valuable time on Wednesday mornings, the Chamber is always open to more help as we near the holiday season. If you have a few hours a week, to a few hours a month, that you would like to spend enhancing Harney County, please reach out to Jess at the Chamber!
The HCCC Board will close applications for the Executive Director position effective November 18. The pay range is $48,000 to $52,000 a year, is 40 hours a week, and has a flex scheduling component due to the night and weekend events the Chamber supports and promotes.
