The Harney County Chamber of Commerce held its annual Radio Auction this week in partnership with 92.7 KZHC. The fun started on Tuesday night with an open house hosted by the HCCC in the Harney County Community Center. All of the donations were on display, with Board members Jodi McLean, Brad Attig, Kevin Pryse and Natasha Gunn in attendance. Guests placed silent bids and socialized. The Facebook portion of the Auction started at 8am on Wednesday, displaying 20 items on the HCCC page. At 11am, Mindy Gould, of Elkhorn Media, went live with Board Secretary, Selene’ Dobson, to kick off the radio auction. Together, they described the products and services so generously donated by our community, as well as the HCCC’s newest projects. Thanks to the generous support of our Harney County community, the HCCC was able to raise over $6700! This is over $2000 more than the previous year, and the funds are dedicated to tourism, small business support, and community events in our county. Over eighty items sold, ranging in price from $15 to $1650. A special thanks to Scott Davies, of The Riley Store, for donating the highest selling item, a Buffalo Hunt!

Louie and Cheryl Smith, and family, of The Wheelhouse, brightened up the sidewalks in front of the HCCC building on Tuesday morning with the Petal it Forward movement. The team passed out two bouquets to each passerby, stopping traffic on North Broadway, to share the joy of giving and receiving flowers. The movement’s mission is “Take two! Keep one bouquet and ‘Petal it Forward’ by giving the second to someone else.” This is the third year the HCCC has hosted The Wheelhouse group, and the warm vibe their friendliness brings to our downtown is much appreciated.
The HCCC has already started to plan their next event, the Harney County Christmas Jamboree on Saturday, December 14th! As in previous years, we will host local vendors here in the Community Center. Interested businesses and groups should reach out to the Chamber for an application. Applications are due by November 1 in order for businesses to plan their wares and for the Chamber to promote them! Plans are also moving forward to include the Arrowhead Plaza in the celebration, on the corner of N Broadway and E A St., into this year's festivities. Please watch for upcoming details about this exciting event!

As the search continues for the HCCC Executive Director, they would like to share that a $48,000 to $52,000 salary, depending on experience, has been added to the job description. If you, or someone you know, may be interested, please reach out to the Chamber for more information. Interested parties may also submit a cover letter and resume to director@harneycounty.com.
