The Harney County Chamber of Commerce has secured the necessary permit from the City of Burns to increase the footprint of the 2024 Christmas Jamboree. This year’s celebration will include vendors and activities at Arrowhead Plaza, as well as E A St. Current projections include food trucks, an outdoor photo booth, and more. These outdoor locations are an extension of the Christmas Jamboree Shopping Experience that takes place inside the Harney County Community Center. Both spots are heavily focused on promoting local, handmade items from individuals and businesses. For at least 40 years, the Chamber of Commerce has produced Christmas events intended for the betterment of our local economy and sense of community pride. As they look to the future, the Chamber hopes to share the wonders of our high desert Christmas with folks far and wide, making us a holiday destination that increases revenue for our community. Indoor and outdoor spaces are $40 each. If you would like to set up in either location, please reach out to the Chamber by no later than November 1 to secure your spot!
The Chamber has their first volunteer signed up to start this week! While more people are needed, volunteers are the first friendly voice to greet visitors or answer the phone. There are also a number of rotating side projects, such as streamlining our brochures, holiday decorating, setting up our art gallery, or any number of other essential tasks that show off Harney County to locals and guests alike. Volunteers increase the scope of work our non-profit chamber can do for the betterment of our community. If you have a few hours to donate every couple of weeks, please call the Chamber at 541-573-2636 or stop by 484 N. Broadway Street in Burns to find out more.
Finally, the HCCC Board of Directors would like to announce their Candidate Night on Monday, November 18 in the Harney County Community Center. This is a public event dedicated to meeting the current board members, those who are running, and understanding the scope of the organization. Two of our current board members, Robert Medley and Brad Atting, seek reelection, and we have four total seats available. HCCC Board of Directors create the vision for the Harney County Chamber of Commerce and with their individual strengths, help guide the trajectory of our organization. If you can commit to one meeting a month and have a vested interest in Harney County, please reach out to Jess at the Chamber to get your name added to the ballot.
